  1. Hi,
Thanks for sharing this deal, can we print 6 coupons? The coupon says limit 1 per purchase. sorry I am new to this and been following your site for 2 weeks now. Please let me know I really wanna grab this deal.

  2. I just had to stop by to say that this was the first time that I decided to try the ECBs. I bought 6 hooks, plus 2 boxes of south beach living bars (they were 2/$5 and I had 2 $1/1 coupons)and I only paid $3.XX out of pocket plus I got the $5 ECBs!!!! Thanks for the great idea

  3. I don’t know if this is only in my area of Pa. but the 2/5 plastic command hooks are the only ones on sale. So, the 2.50 coupon will only work on the metal ones and they are not on sale.
    Bummer!

  4. So I would have to print off 6 Coupons…right? I don’t have 3 computers.

  5. I just called my awesome CVS store. They don’t carry the metal Command hooks at all, which is what the larger $2.50 coupon is intended for. I could, however, use the $1.00 or $1.50 coupons with the plastic hooks. Also, they order today for Friday delivery. So I placed a special order and to get exactly what I need, and they’ll hold it for me! :)

  6. The metal hooks were not included in this deal at my local CVS….

  7. Kim, this morning I used this coupon on regular 3M hooks. I asked a clerk walking by and they even went with me to the register to confirm that it would go through and it did. I got six packages for FREE!

  8. Just to let everyone know, that the metal hooks ARE included in the price even if there isn’t a tag in front of them. I did this today. Paid .90 cents(just tax) and got the $5 ECB.

    • Each item you get in a transaction is a purchase. All coupons usually say one per purchase. Meaning you can’t use the same exact coupon on multiple items. You would have to have more than one coupon. One per purchase is not the same as one per transaction.

  9. I went to the CVS closed to my office during lunch time but unfortunately they only have 3 pieces left so I just don’t get it.

  10. I’m going to slowly pick these up during the week since I only have to pay tax each time. I’ll just combine them with another free or cheap after ECBs purchase so it doesn’t look so suspicious. This morning I picked up a “metal” hook and the Schick Intuition Razor. Tonight I’ll try again with the Oral-B kid’s toothbrushes.

  11. My CVS store also only had 3 metal hooks. I bought the 3, used 3 of the coupons (paid .52 tax) and got a raincheck to get 3 more. That way, I don’t have to get the other 3 metal hooks this week, I can get them next week or later and still get them for the sale price and use the other 3 coupons (before they expire) AND still get my $5 extra care bucks!!! Great deal!! Thanks for posting! I have been wanting to purchase something for behind my door to hang coats, etc. but didn’t want to spend too much $$. This is PERFECT!! And almost free!!!

  12. If I purchase 3 from one store, and 3 from another, will the ECB still print after I purchase the 6th one? Or, do I need to purchase all 6 at the same time???
    Thanks!

  13. Carrie, I think you don’t have to buy them all at once. The $5 ECB will print when you reach 6.

  14. Are the ‘metal’ hooks actually metal or are they the look like metal type? My CVS carries the plastic ones that look like metal, but not actual metal hooks????
    thanks

  15. Like Rebeca, this was the deal that convinced me to try out CVS. The store that I went to (in NC) had three metal hooks (free), so I purchased those and then three photo stickies ($2.50) and paid with three $2.50 q’s and three $1.50 q’s and so my total was $3+ tax. My question is why did I get charged taxes on items that were free? Is this common?

At the bottom it says Today you saved “$26.24″ but it should really say “Thriftymama saved you $26.24″! Thanks so much.

    – Also, I wish I’d know about the rainchecks, dangit!

  16. You always have to pay tax on the full price of items, before coupons, because you are buying the item and sales tax must be paid.

I’m glad to see that someone was still willing to do the deal with only 3 of the metal-looking hooks. It is still a moneymaker, even if you have to pay $1 for each of three picture hangers that have the $1.50 Q. You pay $3 plus tax and get $5, so you still come out at least a few cents ahead with six free items.

If I can find three, I will buy them and wait until the end of the week to see if I can find any more of the metal ones, then as a last resort I will buy three picture hangers.

For those of you who called, maybe the cashiers took you too literally when you asked about metal hooks, since they aren’t really metal, they just look like it. I rarely trust the employees to find the right thing over the phone but I understand not wanting to waste a trip.

  17. yeah, I did it :) I got 6 metal ones and 2 single serving size of Gold Emblem nuts yesterday…. my total OOP was $1.18 and I didn’t use ECB’s, but I earned $5 in ECB’s. I found an un-shopped CVS on my way to visit my folks, so that was a great find!!!

  18. I have a raincheck fo the metal hooks, but if I buy them next week How am I going to get the ECB’s if they will print only for this week? I have another question: I lost $10 ECB from last week ( the aveeno promotion ) Anybody knows if CVS has any track of that so they can reprint the ECB’s for me? Thanks
