Natural and Thrifty in 365: #237 Homemade Antiseptic Ointment

Many of us were raised to reach for over-the-counter antibiotic creams to treat minor scrapes and cuts. You can control the quality of the ingredients and put nature to work for you with a homemade batch of first-aid antiseptic ointment.  With tea tree, lavender and lemon essential oils the natural qualities of this balm are antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiviral, antibiotic and even analgesic for minor pain relief.

If you can’t find the ingredients locally consider ordering from Mountain Rose Herbs.  I checked today and they have all of the ingredients for this recipe in stock.

  1. Is this good for bites of all kinds, scratches, etc…you know just that good ole “salve” out great-gma’s would have that cured everything!

  2. I just pinned it, thanks so much, with 3 kids we need this quite alot, especially with warmer weather and they are outside more. Playing hard = lots of scrapes and boo boos :)
