With summer growing closer now is the time to start planning all those healthy warm-weather treats. Skip the additives down the frozen food aisle and master the art of homemade ice cream and frozen yogurt. But don’t run out and buy an ice cream machine when you can make your favorite flavor right in your freezer.
For one-quart recipes, find a 9X9 glass cake pan. Spread the dessert mixture into the cake pan and place in the freezer for 30 minutes. Remove the mixture and scrape the sides with a spatula mixing throughout to blend in any ice crystals. Put it back in the freezer for another 30 minutes and repeat the stir process a total of 3 times. After the last stir, leave the dessert in the freezer for 2-3 hours until hard.
I would suggest you try this method with my all-time favorite summer treat: Avocado Lime Frozen Yogurt. It is amazing! Don’t leave out the pinch of salt; it really makes the dish!
This method works best with custard-based ice creams or Greek frozen yogurts. Try your favorite recipe and find out if it works for you.
