Natural and Thrifty in 365: #143 Organize Bed Linens in One Step

Be thrifty with your time.  Don’t waste another minute searching for a twin fitted sheet stacked amongst a mountain of mixed linens of all sizes and colors.  One trick to save time and space is to tuck a complete sheet set inside of one of the coordinating pillowcases.  This one step keeps all the matching linens together, saves time searching for matching sheets and leaves the space looking tidy.

We use this tip and keep linens for each bedroom on their own shelf in the hall closet.  Do you have any time-saving organizing tips to share?

  1. I do this and I love it! I especially love it because it can be so hard to keep those darn fitted sheets neatly folded and this holds everything together!

  2. I’ve tried this, and it works great for regular cotton sheets and anything twin sized. The problems come with the jersey knit and flannel ones. The flannel are just too bulky for one pillow case. The jersey ones are like trying to shove folded plastic wrap into a bag made of more plastic wrap. Thankfully, I only have one set of each for each bed, so as long as I put things on the designated shelf, I don’t have a problem.

  4. I hang mine up in a spare closet. We have all our luggage and extra bags on the floor, hang all our sheets and blankets on hangers, and then put all our special stuff on the top shelf (like special blankets made me and for each child by there late great-aunt.) Currently though we don’t have any spare/guest beds. I like your idea for a spare bed because those sheets would not get rotated as often as our family bedding.
