How to Make Pumpkin Syrup

Yes, you read that right. I’m talking about that wonderful goodness that is pumpkin syrup. It’s so yummy you’ll want to use it on your pancakes, on cakes, in your coffee (pumpkin spiced latte anyone?), and whatever else tickles your pumpkin-flavored-fancy. Making your own pumpkin syrup is super simple and easy. It takes just a few minutes to make, and you’ve got something positively amazing and decadent.

Here’s how to make pumpkin syrup:


Pumpkin Syrup Recipe

Yield: 1 1/2 cups


  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (organic)
  • 1 C organic sugar


  1. Combine ingredients in a saucepan.
  2. Heat gradually on the stove.
  3. Stir and keep cooking until the sugar is dissolved.
  4. Voila! Man that was easy!

Make sure the sugar you use is a lightly colored organic sugar, so that you get that beautiful orange color. I use the organic sugar that I buy in bulk at Costco. Combine it with some of that pumpkin puree from scratch and you’ve got fabulousness happening in the kitchen!

After making this pumpkin syrup, I used it to top a Fall cake and it was absolutely delicious (recipe coming on that cake real soon – it’s gluten-free and organic!).

Topping pancakes, making up some pumpkin spiced lattes and other recipes will be super easy and delicious with this pumpkin syrup. Let me know how you all like it!

  1. Thanks for the recipe! I will be trying it out this weekend along with your pound cake. I make pumpkin butter which is just this except lots more pumpkin and some spices. This looks like a better deal for a glaze and such however.

  2. Made this today — yum! Next time I plan to add some pumpkin pie spices to make it more flavorful. But still pleased.
