Raw Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie (With Hemp Protein!)

I’m huge fan of anything chocolate, and I’ve really become a junkie in having it in my smoothies. Instead of coffee, I’ve been getting my daily energy from having an awesome raw smoothie with raw cacao in it. This is one of my favorites because I use raw hemp seed as well, which is a great source of protein. That in combination with the peanut butter makes this a powerhouse of a protein-packed smoothie. Plus it’s vegetarian to boot!

Benefits of Raw Cacao

Cacao has been shown to improve circulation and may prevent heart disease by reducing the amount of plaque build-up in the body. It also contains powerful antioxidants that combat free radicals, and may reduce the risk of certain types of cancer.

Benefits of Bananas

Bananas are actually beneficial in helping with weight-loss. They are low in calories, but high in essential nutrients that the body needs to function. Including more bananas in your diet will allow you to receive adequate nutrition while naturally reducing calories and cravings for sweet foods. They are high in Vitamin B-6, Potassium, Vitamin C, Manganese and dietary fiber.

Benefits of Hemp Seed

Hemps seeds are both a great source of protein and omega fatty acids, which are beneficial for good brain and heart health. Fatty acids have been linked to a reduced risk of heart disease, a lowering of cholesterol and blood pressure, and reduced inflammation in the body.

Benefits of Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is an excellent source of protein and a healthy fat for the body. The body needs healthy fats in order to function properly and eliminate toxins and unhealthy fats. It’s also a good source of potassium and fiber, and is an excellent source of energy that even helps with weight-loss.

Benefits of Plant-Based Protein

Better source of protein, which comes from pea and hemp proteins. The chocolate protein comes with both hemp and cacao referenced above.

So now that we’ve talked about a few of the benefits of these ingredients, let’s move onto the recipe. I know that’s why you’re really here on this post….you know you want this creamy goodness.

Raw Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 heaping scoop of GSGLife Chocolate Protein (has the hemp and cacao)
  • 1 heaping spoonful of peanut butter
  • 2 tb honey (or agave)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Cover with rice milk or almond milk
  • Optional: Handful of spinach

Directions:

Throw all your ingredients in the blender, and blend up into a smoothie.

The creaminess of this smoothie actually makes it more like a chocolate shake. You’ll be gulping this thing down like you’re a little kid with a chocolatey goodness ice cream shake. Willy Wonky ain’t got nothin’ on this chocolate goodness in a glass.

    Wondering if you don’t use the GSG life chocolate protein, would shakeology vegan be a good substitute? Or how much of the cacao and hemp should be used on its own? Thanks!
