Nothing starts me on a detox faster than a good beet juice! Even if I’ve been juicing for a few days, a beet juice always kicks my detox into high gear. If you want to do a simple detox and cleansing, a good beet juice is the way to go. Just be prepared to stay close to the restroom – ha, yes I went there! 😉
There are so many yummy options when it comes to making a good beet juice. Some people don’t like beet juices right away, but after a while they grow on ya! Beet juices have become one of my favorites! If you do try some beet juices, just don’t do more than 1-2 beet juices in a week’s time (that’s a lot of iron!). Here’s a simple beet juice recipe that I use quite frequently:
- 1 small beet
- 2 carrots
- 2 apples
- 1 handful of kale
- Send all ingredients through your juicer.
- Serve and refrigerate any leftover juice.
- If you are using the juice press method, blend up your ingredients in a blender with a little bit of water and then send through the press.
If you’re not really a fan of beets and can’t stand the flavor at all, then you can add more apples and a bit of lemon to the mix in order to hide the beet taste.
Beets are a good source of Vitamin C, Iron and Magnesium, Dietary Fiber, Folate, Potassium and Manganese. They also help maintain a healthy weight, and can even help with weightless. They do contain a lot of iron, so it’s important to not overdo it when it comes to the beet juices.
