These days digestive issues are far too common. You’ve heard the phrase “take care of your gut health” frequently, I’m sure. Did you know that by simply adding in some green juicing, you can help improve your digestive function and overall gut health?
In order for your body to have efficient digestion, there needs to be a balance of good gut flora (probiotics). A good probiotic is good to include in your diet along with plant-based eating.
But even with including more vegetables in your diet, it can be hard to get all the plant nutrients your body needs. This is where juicing comes in!
I love juicing because it is a super fast way to give your body a lot of what it needs in a very short amount of time.
Here are 3 juices that are great for maintaining a healthy gut.
Ginger Pear, and Celery
Eating the right things for your digestive health can be difficult if you’re flying blind, but this recipe is super simple and doesn’t take much time to make. Pears and celery are a high fiber plants. To get the benefit of these foods, you will want to leave some of the pulp within the juice, or add it after you have finished juicing.
I like to take leftover pulp and freeze it to include later in recipes. The ginger in the juice will help to reduce any inflammation that may be present, giving relief.
- 1 large pear
- 2 celery stalks
- 2cm piece of ginger
Cucumber, Kale and Green Apple
One recurring theme that you will see with these recipes is that they all contain some kind of fibrous plant material. Fiber is essential for a clean digestive tract and if you allow plaque to build up in your system, a lot of very unpleasant things can take place.
Drink the full smoothie form of this, or leave some of the pulp and drink as a juice.
Between the apple, and the kale, the fiber content is in full force, but another great part of the recipe comes from the omega 3 fatty acids that are also contained in kale. The kale isn’t the only thing in this recipe with secret however. Apples contain enzymes that help the body to break down foods.
- 1 green apple
- 5 kale leaves
- 1 cucumber
- 1 lemon
Cucumber, Pineapple and Swiss Chard
This mild and tasty drink has a lot going on in a really simple recipe. Cucumber, Pineapple and Swiss Chard contain nutrients that are powerful antioxidants. Pineapples are another great source for enzymes that help the body to break down foods as well.
- 5 swiss chard leaves
- 1 cup of cubed pineapple
- 1 cucumber
