There are so many great beauty products out there – $60 toners, $150 face creams, $30 conditioners. I’m sure they are all great, but you can’t beat a $4 bottle of Apple Cider vinegar. So if you’re interested in clearing up your skin, whitening your teeth, and possibly preventing cancer, organic apple cider vinegar is sort of a 1-stop-shop for a long list of tried and true health and wellness benefits.
Apple cider vinegar is pressed apple juice that has been fermented twice. First, into a hard cider through yeast fermentation, then in the second fermentation process, the alcohol is converted into vinegar by acetic acid-forming bacteria, giving it a sour taste.
Organic apple cider vinegar is where it’s at. While it looks a little less pleasing to the eye – cloudy in appearance, containing what is called ‘The mother of vinegar”, a scary blob hanging out usually at the bottom of the bottle (which houses many of the vitamins, enzymes, and minerals that make this a magic potion), organic apple cider vinegar is unpasteurized, leaving all its benefits in tact.
Un-organic, pasteurized apple cider vinegar has been pasteurized, making it prettier to behold but lacking in health benefits, one reason being that the pasteurization process has those intact enzymes making it possible for your body to tolerate and properly digest it.
Some of the many benefits of organic apple cider vinegar include:
–Weight loss – Studies have shown that acetic acid (one of it’s main ingredients) aids in causing the feeling of “satisfied” after eating to last notably longer, resulting in less calories consumed and more weight lost. It also helps break down stored fat so our bodies can use up and burn that fat, instead of holding on to it.
–Good for your heart – By helping regulate blood pressure, and reducing the bad cholesterol in our blood.
–Hates Cancer – Some studies have proven that ACV might slow the growth of cancer cells, or even kill the cells.
–Keeps your teeth white– Swoosh a tablespoon around your mouth for a couple seconds, and ACV can remove stains from your teeth, making them brighter, while killing bacteria in your mouth.
–Keeps your regular– Keeps your bowels moving along, which aids in the process of your body expelling toxins from your body.
–Keeps your pretty– Dilute with water to make a 50/50 mixture. Apply to your face with cotton balls to even out your complexion, reduce redness, treat dark spots under your eyes, and even help with wrinkles! Or use in your hair after shampooing to add shine.
Non-toxic cleaning spray – Kills bacteria, absorbs odors, without questionable chemicals being introduced into your home. Try as an alternative to your all-purpose household cleaners. (Combine 1 part water and 1 part organic apple cider vinegar in spray bottle).
