Why you should NEVER move during the Summer months…

It’s been a whirlwind of a Summer for me, and I am so excited to finally be in my new home.  As some of you know, I ended up severely ill due to mold poisoning. I was renting a house that ended up with some water damage in the ceiling, and due to the negligence of the landlord I ended up having to move last minute during the Summer.

Let me use this opportunity to tell you in advance…

Everyone… And I do mean EVERYONE, moves during the Summer. This is because there’s a break in school, and it definitely seems to be the best time to rent out or sell your home.

But for those of us that need to move at a moment’s notice… it is a nightmare!

I spent two months calling about houses that had been listed that day, and they were already gone. That coupled with being so sick made this Summer very difficult. I have missed making videos and blogging.

Suffice it to say, if I ever move again I plan to NOT do it during the Summer months.

But alas, we are settled in our new home and it is absolutely beautiful. I happened upon it through a friend of a friend, and it’s one of those old timey houses in Atlanta – complete with spiral staircase.

home sweet home

It’s difficult to tell by the picture, but it is actually bigger than it looks. I have a running joke now, that it’s like the Doctor’s Tardis – it’s bigger on the inside. And on the inside I have an actual Tardis…. a fitting description, methinks.

I feel immensely blessed, because by some miracle we ended up in my dream home. I have always loved houses like this, and I couldn’t be happier.

Thank you all for your wonderful prayers and thoughts during the last few months. They have been difficult, but I’m looking forward to the joyous years ahead in our new home and can’t wait to get back to filming videos and writing for you all.

Be blessed, and I’ll see you in the next video!

P.S. If you have any suggestions for how to decorate my gorgeous new porch, I’d love some ideas!

LOVE your new home – it’s so pretty! I can see that porch with lots of flowers and ferns in baskets, and maybe a swing, or a couple of rockers. And with Fall coming, lots of pumpkins & Indian corn. You are going to have so much fun decorating your porch! 🙂

How about a bright and cheery yellow door! Mine is that color and I LOVE it. Add yellow flowers in pots amongst other bright colors. Swing bench with coordinating pillows. Long rectangular pots hanging over the railings to the right and left of the steps with sprawling flowers (some wave petunias would be gorgeous)! Small table with 2 chairs on opposite side of bench. Have fun!!

Do you have any suggestions on how to move without making yourself go crazy. I need an organized move and am looking forward to this move as a way to sort/get rid of a bunch of junk.

Also, do you have any suggestions for moving/finding a rental on a budget in ATL.

Compare prices with all of the truck companies, and they will compete for each other’s business so be sure to get quotes and call the other guys. Tell them what the first guys offered, and keep going until you get the best deal. 🙂

Mine was utter chaos. Do a little bit each day if you have the time. My move was last minute, so I didn’t have much time to prepare. 🙁
